Build San Diego Awards - 2023

Every two years, AGC recognizes the contractors that build outstanding buildings and supporting infrastructure that help make San Diego County such a beautiful region.  On November 14, 2023, AGC honored the "best of the best" at AGC's 2023 Build San Diego Awards luncheon. Over 200 guests enjoyed the afternoon's festivities, including a number of elected officials, government and educational leaders, owners, developers, architects, and engineers.

The luncheon was sponsored by Hawthorne Cat and Torrey Pines Bank, and the Master of Ceremonies was Heather Myers from KFMB-TV.

The Build San Diego Award entries were evaluated in terms of excellence in project management, innovation in construction techniques or materials, excellence in client service, contractor's contribution to the community as it relates to the project, and meeting the challenges of a difficult job.

The entries were reviewed, and the finalists and award winners were selected by a panel of judges:
  • Mike Mills - VP, Facilities and Construction, Palomar Health
  • Jeff Moneda - Director of Engineering and Planning, Padre Dame Municipal Water District
  • Margie Perez - District Division Chief, Caltrans
  • Lou Smith - Former Commander at NAVFAC, Former Port Commissioner
  • Cid Tesoro - V.P., Facilities and Engineering, Port of San Diego
