Government Relations
 |
AGC employs a
full time staff member, Brad Barnum, whose focus is government relations
in the San Diego area, including the City, County, Port District,
CalTrans, and local school districts. |
 |
AGC employs a
three-person, Sacramento-based Government Relations staff headed by Dave
Ackerman. They represent our member firms in the state legislature and
are focused on ensuring the proper funding of California's
infrastructure. |
 |
AGC and our
members contribute over $200,000 per year to candidates that are
pro-construction. |

Labor Relations
 |
AGC provides
both union and open shop contractors expert labor relations advice,
prevailing wage assistance, etc. Executive Vice President Jim Ryan has
over 30 years labor relations experience representing contractors. |

Industry Relations
 |
AGC's industry
relations efforts lead the construction industry. Our Liaison Committees
meet on a regular basis with CalTrans, the City of San Diego, the San
Diego Port District, the County of San Diego, San Diego Unified School
District, and several similar organizations at the state level. |

Safety
 |
AGC offers our
members onsite safety consulting. Services include jobsite "walk around
visits" and follow up reports, onsite instructional classes, safety
program analysis and development, Fed/Cal OSHA assistance, and other
services that assist firms in providing a safe work environment. |

safety courses and training, as well as education seminars and

AGC offers
over 150 continuing education courses each year. Please see our

AGC led the
industry in the formation of
Construction Tech
Academy, the construction magnet school at Kearny High School. Over
400 students will be prepared for careers in the trades and engineering.
AGC holds two positions on CTA's Board of Directors. |

AGC is the
association that convinced San Diego State University to begin the new
Construction Engineering and Management Program. |

the Daily Construction Reporter,
a weekly periodical serving the construction industry and providing
bidding, planning, permitting, and plan check information. |

drawings and specifications in San Diego County to be viewed and
