2019 BUILD SAN DIEGO AWARDS

Every two years, AGC recognizes members who build San Diego’s most impressive construction projects ranging across the building, highway & transportation, underground & utility infrastructure, and heavy divisions.

On November 5, 2019, AGC honored the "best of the best" at AGC's 2019 Build San Diego Awards luncheon at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Over 350 guests enjoyed the afternoon of festivities, including several elected officials, government and educational leaders, owners, developers, architects, and engineers.

The luncheon was sponsored by Hawthorne Cat and Torrey Pines Bank, and the Master of Ceremonies was Matt Pound, General Manager at Escondido Materials and County of San Diego Liaison chairperson. The Honorable Steve Vaus, Mayor of Poway was the special guest speaker at the event.

The Build San Diego Award entries were evaluated in terms of excellence in project management, innovation in construction techniques or materials, excellence in client service, contractor's contribution to the community as it relates to the project and meeting the challenges of a difficult job.

The entries were reviewed, and the finalists and award winners were selected by a panel of judges:
  • John Addleman, Executive Director of Planning Services, San Dieguito Union High School District
  • Jim Cleaton, Director of Construction, San Diego State University
  • Bill Morgan, Deputy Director - Engineering Services Division, County of San Diego Department of Public Works
  • Michael Tilley, Sr. Program Manager/Airport Design & Construction, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority

All the project finalists (descriptions and photos) can be viewed in a special edition of AGC San Diego's Constructor magazine. The diverse projects are an integral part of the region's economy, and they represent the hard work of architects, engineers and construction firms.
