The purpose of the AGC Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) is to recognize those construction companies who excel at safety performance. CSEA closely examines each candidate's commitment to safety, occupational health management, and risk control. Applicants compete in the following six divisions: Building, Highway, Heavy, Municipal, and Specialty.

SIR Award
"Skill, Integrity, Responsibility."
The AGC SIR Award is the highest honor an individual can attain within the association and the construction industry. The name "SIR" is derived from an acronym taken from the AGC's creed: "Skill, Integrity, Responsibility." The award trophy itself is a 15-inch, golden statuette modeled from Norman Rockwell's painting, "The Spirit of Construction."
The SIR Award is bestowed on industry leaders, both locally and nationally, who have made and continue to make outstanding contributions to the AGC and to the construction industry. 25 individuals have received this prestigious distinction.

Company Awards
Excellence in Marketing - Company
The Excellence in Marketing Award is presented to the company that best exemplifies promoting the value of AGC Membership and participation within their company and to potential members. Additionally the company promotes the value of utilizing AGC Contractors to elected officials, the community at large and clients or potential clients. Can be self nominated or by Affiliate Council and will be presented by the Affiliate Council Committee.
Good Business Award - Company
"It's Good Business to do Business with an AGC Member"
The Good Business Award is presented to the General or Specialty Contractor who best exemplifies the AGC motto" its Good Business to do Business with an AGC Member ". The company selected has an open door policy for AGC Members to have the opportunity to make their pitch, make payments to subcontractors and suppliers on time and are active in the AGC San Diego. Nominated and presented by the Affiliate Council Chairperson.
Affiliate of the Year Award - Company
The Affiliate Council awards the Affiliate of the Year Award to a firm that exemplifies the AGC motto of Skill, Integrity and Responsibility, strongly supports the role of Affiliates within the AGC and actively promotes the AGC through committee involvement and participation in AGC events.
Excellence in Construction Technology - Company
The Technology Trends in Construction Committee is a local industry meeting ground, a think tank whose members are all focused on construction technology and bringing important emerging technologies of all types into reality for the construction industry. The committee has designed an award to honor the technology innovators in the construction profession.
Environmental Stewardship Horizontal & Vertical Construction – Company
The Environmental Stewardship Committee presents this award which recognizes the AGC San Diego firm that promotes and achieves excellence in sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and community impact. The award will be given to a firm that utilizes sustainable practices and procedures in its day to day business, that involves itself in community activities, that encourages sustainable practices and which trains employees to be aware of activities that affect the environment each day.
Individual Awards
Affiliate of the Year Award - Individual/Company
The Affiliate Council awards the Affiliate of the Year Award to an individual and a firm that exemplifies the AGC motto of Skill, Integrity and Responsibility, strongly supports the role of Affiliates within the AGC and actively promotes the AGC through committee involvement and participation in AGC events.
Rookie of the Yeard - Individual
The Rookie of the Year Award is selected from members that have been actively involved with the AGC within the first 2 years of their membership; serving on committee meetings, and participating in and attending member functions & events. Nominated and presented by the Affiliate Council.
Construction Industry Excellence Award - Company
This award recognizes a company that demonstrates the highest level of integrity and ethics in their business practice, and who goes beyond the norm with their commitment to supporting the AGC, the construction industry and the community. This award is presented to a company that has earned a high level of respect among their peers, customers, vendors and subcontractors.
Construction Industry Professional Award - Individual
This award will recognize an individual's professional performance and achievements and their strong support of the AGC by committee involvement and participation. This award is given to an individual who goes above and beyond the normal expectations of their company in their efforts to support the industry and the members of the AGC.
Construction Industry Leadership Award - Individual
This award will recognize an individual's leadership by championing, participating, and supporting the AGC through their association involvement, attendance at events and committee participation. They are a strong promoter of the AGC within the construction industry, both public and private. They actively support the construction industry and the community as a whole. They lead by example and expect their company's management and staff to do the same.
President's Award - Individual or Company
This award will be presented on an exceptional basis and will not necessarily be done every year. The nominee will be an individual who goes above and beyond the normal expectations of their position within the construction profession and the community and whose efforts bring an extraordinary amount of value to the industry.
